Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PopVax Strep A vaccine is an investigational mRNA-encoded virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine designed to prevent infections caused by *Streptococcus pyogenes* (Group A Streptococcus). Developed using PopVax's proprietary mRNA platform, the vaccine delivers mRNA that instructs host cells to produce VLPs displaying Strep A-specific antigens. This approach aims to mimic the structural presentation of the pathogen to elicit a robust and protective immune response, potentially addressing a wide range of Strep A-related conditions, from pharyngitis to more severe invasive diseases. As of early 2024, the program is in the design phase, with Phase 1 clinical trials projected to begin in 2028.
