Overview

Porcine placental extracellular matrix (PPECM), commercially known as InnovaMatrix AC, is a decellularized and terminally sterilized topical wound covering derived from porcine placental amnion and chorion tissue. Developed by Convatec (formerly Triad Life Sciences), it is classified as a cellular, acellular, and matrix-like product (CAMP). The matrix retains essential biological components, including collagen, elastin, laminin, fibronectin, hyaluronic acid, and sulfated glycosaminoglycans, which collectively provide a structural scaffold to support the wound healing microenvironment. It is FDA-cleared for the management of a wide range of acute and chronic wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, and partial-thickness burns, and has been shown to reduce complications like amputation and bacteremia compared to standard care.
