Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Potassium and carbohydrate electrolyte solution is a sterile, non-pyrogenic intravenous infusion designed for perioperative fluid management and nutritional support. In China, it is primarily developed and marketed by Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals under the brand name Suqian. The formulation consists of a balanced mixture of glucose (carbohydrate) and essential electrolytes, including potassium chloride, sodium chloride, magnesium sulfate, and sodium dihydrogen phosphate. It is indicated for patients who are fasting or undergoing surgical procedures to maintain water and electrolyte balance, provide a readily available energy source to prevent ketosis, and mitigate the development of postoperative insulin resistance. By supplying exogenous glucose, the solution helps maintain metabolic stability and reduces the catabolism of body proteins and fats during the physiological stress of surgery.
