Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Acesol is a combined saline infusion solution containing potassium chloride, sodium acetate, and sodium chloride. It is widely used as a rehydrating and detoxifying agent to restore water-electrolyte balance and acid-base balance in patients suffering from dehydration and intoxication. It is particularly indicated for severe dehydration and metabolic acidosis associated with cholera, acute shigellosis (dysentery), and foodborne toxicoinfections. By replenishing essential sodium, potassium, chloride, and acetate ions, Acesol reduces hypovolemia, improves capillary microcirculation, prevents hemoconcentration, and stimulates diuresis.
