Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Potassium magnesium aspartate is an electrolyte supplement and cardioprotective agent containing a mixture of potassium and magnesium salts of aspartic acid. Aspartate acts as an active transport carrier with a high affinity for cells, facilitating the entry of potassium and magnesium ions into the intracellular space. This combination helps restore intracellular electrolyte balance, stabilize myocardial electrophysiology, and support cellular energy metabolism. It is clinically approved for the treatment of hypokalemia, digitalis-induced arrhythmias, congestive heart failure, and myocardial infarction, as well as an adjuvant therapy for liver disorders such as hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and hepatic encephalopathy.
