Potentox

Potentox is a fixed-dose combination antibiotic developed by Venus Remedies, comprising the fourth-generation cephalosporin cefepime and the aminoglycoside amikacin, integrated with a proprietary Antibiotic Adjuvant Entity (AAE). This combination is specifically engineered to address multi-drug resistant (MDR) Gram-negative bacterial infections. Cefepime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), while amikacin disrupts bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. The AAE component is designed to enhance the synergistic effect of the two antibiotics and mitigate resistance mechanisms. Potentox is approved for treating severe infections such as nosocomial pneumonia, community-acquired pneumonia, febrile neutropenia, complicated urinary tract infections, and sepsis.
