Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Poxue Huayu Granules (破血化瘀颗粒) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation primarily developed for the treatment of gynecological conditions characterized by 'blood stasis,' most notably uterine fibroids (hysteromyoma) and endometriosis. The preparation is based on the 'Di Dang' theory of breaking down stubborn blood stasis and typically incorporates potent animal and plant-derived ingredients such as Hirudo (leech), Tabanus (horsefly), Rheum palmatum (rhubarb), and Prunus persica (peach kernel). Mechanistically, the granules are designed to modulate the endocrine environment by regulating the expression of estrogen and progesterone receptors in fibroid tissue, inducing apoptosis in myometrial smooth muscle cells, and inhibiting angiogenesis through the reduction of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels. It has been extensively studied in clinical research settings in China, particularly for its potential to reduce fibroid volume and alleviate symptoms like dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia without the need for surgical intervention.
