Overview

POZ-VMAT2i is an investigational, proprietary, long-acting injectable vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) inhibitor, conjugated with Serina Therapeutics' POZ (poly(2-oxazoline)) polymer technology, designed to provide a near zero-order pharmacokinetic profile with once-weekly subcutaneous administration[1][3][4]. It is primarily developed to treat tardive dyskinesia (TD), a chronic movement disorder caused by long-term antipsychotic use, and is also being explored for chorea associated with Huntington's disease. POZ-VMAT2i aims to address adherence and access challenges for patients who struggle with daily oral medications, including those in institutional settings or with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia). The POZ polymer enables prolonged drug release, offering a potentially transformative alternative to current oral VMAT2 inhibitors[1][2][4].
