Overview

Pozelimab is a fully human monoclonal IgG4 antibody used to treat CD55-deficient protein-losing enteropathy (PLE), also known as CHAPLE disease, in adults and children aged 1 year and older. It acts as a complement inhibitor by binding to complement component C5, blocking its cleavage into C5a and C5b, thereby preventing the formation of the membrane-attack complex (C5b-C9) that mediates cell lysis. This mechanism reduces terminal complement activation implicated in CHAPLE disease pathology. Pozelimab is administered via intravenous or subcutaneous injection and was developed using Regeneron's VelocImmune technology[1][2][3][4][5][8].
