Overview

PP1815 is a cocktail of three lytic bacteriophages developed by Phaxiam Therapeutics for the treatment of infections caused by *Staphylococcus aureus*. As a phage therapy, it functions by specifically targeting and infecting *S. aureus* cells, including methicillin-resistant strains (MRSA). Upon infection, the phages hijack the bacterial replication machinery to produce new viral particles, ultimately leading to the lysis and death of the host bacterium. PP1815 is primarily being developed for the treatment of prosthetic joint infections (PJI), a condition often complicated by bacterial biofilms that are highly resistant to conventional antibiotics. The therapy is currently being evaluated in the Phase 2 PHAGEO clinical trial, where it is administered locally to the site of infection.
