Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PPB-R-203 is a resistant starch (RS)-based dietary formulation developed to reduce postprandial hyperglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes. It functions primarily by slowing the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, thereby lowering blood glucose excursions after meals. The active carbohydrate composition is approximately 10% degraded starch, 20% amylase, and 70% amylopectin. Mechanistically, RS may regulate glucose metabolism via fermentation by colonic microbiota to produce short-chain fatty acids as well as possible bile acid modulation[1][8][10].
