Overview

PPE3-SEA is an engineered oncolytic adenovirus designed to express the superantigen Staphylococcus enterotoxin A (SEA). Its tumor specificity is enhanced by the regulation of its E1A and E1B genes by the telomerase reverse transcriptase and hypoxia-inducible factor promoters, respectively. This design allows PPE3-SEA to induce cytopathic effects in tumor cells and recruit CD3+ T cells, leading to anti-tumor activity, as demonstrated in mouse models of bladder cancer.
