Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PPV-06 is a peptide-based active immunotherapy (vaccine) designed to induce the production of anti-interleukin 6 (IL-6) antibodies, thereby neutralizing IL-6 and reducing its pro-inflammatory activity. The drug consists of an IL-6-derived peptide conjugated to the carrier protein CRM197. Its primary mechanism is to stimulate the immune system to generate neutralizing antibodies against IL-6, a cytokine implicated in pain and disease progression in osteoarthritis and other inflammatory conditions. Developed by Peptinov, PPV-06 has demonstrated safety and immunogenicity in phase 1 clinical trials for knee osteoarthritis, with ongoing development for this indication[1][2][3][4][5][7][8].
