Overview

PQM-214 is a synthetic curcumin-like small molecule compound investigated for its antineoplastic properties, particularly in lung adenocarcinoma. It exerts its effects by inducing cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, and cellular senescence. Mechanistically, PQM-214 modulates key cell cycle regulators, leading to the downregulation of MYC, FOXM1, and cyclins (E2 and B), while upregulating senescence markers such as p21 (CDKN1A) and Cyclin D1. Preclinical studies in A549 and other lung cancer cell lines have demonstrated its potential to inhibit proliferation and act as a possible senolytic agent.
