Overview

Pralubactam (FL058) is a novel small molecule beta-lactamase inhibitor developed by Qilu Pharmaceutical. It is designed to be administered intravenously in combination with the carbapenem antibiotic meropenem (as Meropenem-Pralubactam or Meropenem/FL058) to treat serious infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE). By inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes that would otherwise degrade carbapenem antibiotics, pralubactam restores the efficacy of meropenem against resistant bacterial strains. The combination is currently in Phase 3 clinical development for several indications, including hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia (HABP), ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia (VABP), complicated intra-abdominal infections (cIAI), and complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI).
