Overview

Pralurbactam (formerly known as FL058) is a novel diazabicyclooctane (DBO) beta-lactamase inhibitor developed by Qilu Pharmaceutical. It is designed to restore the activity of carbapenems, such as meropenem, against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria, particularly those producing Ambler Class A (including KPC), Class C (AmpC), and certain Class D (such as OXA-48) serine beta-lactamases. Pralurbactam works by covalently and reversibly binding to the active site of these enzymes, preventing them from hydrolyzing co-administered beta-lactam antibiotics. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials as a fixed-dose combination with meropenem (Meropenem-pralurbactam) for the treatment of serious bacterial infections, including complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI) and acute pyelonephritis.
