Overview
Pramipexole is a small molecule dopamine agonist used primarily to treat Parkinson's disease and restless legs syndrome (RLS). It acts by stimulating dopamine receptors in the brain, particularly with high affinity for the D3 receptor subtype, mimicking the effects of endogenous dopamine. This helps alleviate symptoms such as tremor, stiffness, slowed movement, and discomfort or urge to move in RLS.
