Overview

Pramlintide + glucagon is a hypothetical or investigational combination of two peptide hormones, pramlintide and glucagon. Pramlintide is a synthetic analogue of amylin, a hormone co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic beta cells, and acts to lower blood glucose by reducing postprandial glucagon secretion, slowing gastric emptying, and increasing satiety. Glucagon is an endogenous peptide hormone produced by pancreatic alpha cells that raises blood glucose levels primarily through stimulating hepatic glucose production. While both agents are individually approved for specific indications—pramlintide for adjunctive treatment in diabetes mellitus (type 1 and type 2) and glucagon for severe hypoglycemia—their combination as a single therapeutic product does not appear to be commercially available or clinically established as of the current date. No clinical trials or marketed products specifically combining pramlintide with glucagon have been identified.
