Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pranoprofen + sodium hyaluronate is a fixed-dose combination of two ophthalmic agents used primarily for the treatment of dry eye disease. Pranoprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes, thereby reducing ocular inflammation. Sodium hyaluronate is a viscoelastic polymer that acts as an artificial tear substitute, providing lubrication and moisture to the ocular surface. The combination leverages both anti-inflammatory effects (from pranoprofen) and tear film stabilization/lubrication (from sodium hyaluronate), resulting in improved clinical outcomes for patients with dry eye compared to either agent alone. Clinical studies have shown this combination improves tear film stability, increases tear secretion, reduces corneal staining, lowers inflammatory cytokine levels (such as TNF-α and IL-1β), enhances visual function, and improves quality of life in patients with dry eye[1][2][6][8].
