Overview

PRD003 is a selective small molecule inhibitor of sterol O-acyltransferase 2 (SOAT2) currently in development by PRD Therapeutics. SOAT2 is an enzyme primarily expressed in the liver and intestine that catalyzes the esterification of cholesterol. By inhibiting SOAT2, PRD003 aims to modulate cholesterol esterification and reduce the accumulation of cholesterol esters, which is a hallmark of Lysosomal Acid Lipase Deficiency (LAL-D). The drug is currently in the lead optimization stage and is being investigated for the treatment of LAL-D and other rare dyslipidemia-associated diseases.
