Overview

PRDX1 short hairpin RNA (shRNA) is a gene-silencing tool designed to knock down the expression of peroxiredoxin 1 (PRDX1). PRDX1 is a member of the peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes that regulates intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and signaling pathways. In the context of oncology, particularly clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), PRDX1 has been identified as a promoter of tumor progression by modulating the EGFR-dependent AKT signaling pathway. By utilizing shRNA to reduce PRDX1 levels, researchers can inhibit these oncogenic pathways, potentially reducing tumor growth and metastasis. This agent is primarily used as a research tool to validate PRDX1 as a therapeutic target.
