Preclamol is the (-)enantiomer of 3-PPP (3-(3-hydroxyphenyl)-N-n-propylpiperidine), a **small molecule dopamine receptor partial agonist**. It acts primarily as a mixed agonist-antagonist at dopamine D2 and D3 receptors, showing preferential activity at dopamine autoreceptors and postsynaptic dopamine receptors, with a weaker activity at D1 receptors. Originally investigated for the treatment of **Parkinson's disease** and **schizophrenia**—as an antiparkinsonian and antipsychotic agent—preclamol showed some efficacy in alleviating parkinsonian symptoms and had a mild antipsychotic effect in early studies, but development was discontinued. The drug was initially developed by AstraZeneca.
