Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Prednisolone acetate + phenylephrine hydrochloride** is a fixed-dose sterile ophthalmic suspension marketed as Prednefrin Forte. It combines prednisolone acetate 1%, a synthetic glucocorticoid anti-inflammatory agent that activates the glucocorticoid receptor and suppresses ocular inflammatory responses, with phenylephrine hydrochloride 0.12%, an alpha-1 adrenergic agonist that constricts engorged ocular and eyelid blood vessels. It is used ophthalmically for severe non-infectious ocular inflammation, including acute iritis, iridocyclitis, scleritis, episcleritis, uveitis, resistant ocular allergy, and postoperative ocular inflammation when infection is not suspected.
