Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of two separate medications - prednisone (a corticosteroid) and celecoxib (a COX-2 selective NSAID). Prednisone works by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, inhibiting pro-inflammatory signals and promoting anti-inflammatory signals. Celecoxib selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, reducing the synthesis of inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins. This combination is not formulated as a single product but may be prescribed together for certain inflammatory conditions. However, the combination carries an increased risk of gastrointestinal side effects including bleeding and ulcers.
