Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Premeno Duo is a non-hormonal vaginal moisturizer used for the treatment of vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA) and vaginal dryness, particularly in patients where hormonal therapy is contraindicated, such as breast cancer survivors undergoing endocrine therapy. It is formulated as a vaginal ovule containing hyaluronic acid, lactic acid, and sodium lactate. Hyaluronic acid provides intensive hydration by binding water and forming a protective film over the vaginal mucosa, which supports tissue regeneration and alleviates symptoms like dryness, itching, and dyspareunia. Lactic acid and sodium lactate help maintain or restore the physiological vaginal pH (approximately 3.8 to 4.5), which is essential for a healthy vaginal flora and the prevention of infections. In the GRACE trial (NCT04431999) conducted by University Hospital, Ghent, Premeno Duo is evaluated as a local treatment for VVA in breast cancer patients, serving as a non-hormonal comparator to estrogen and DHEA treatments.
