Overview

Prepkit-C is a standard bowel preparation kit used in Australia and New Zealand to cleanse the colon prior to colonoscopy or other gastrointestinal procedures. It is a combination regimen consisting of one sachet of Glycoprep-C (a polyethylene glycol [PEG]-based osmotic laxative containing macrogol 3350, sodium sulfate, sodium chloride, and potassium chloride) and two sachets of Picoprep (containing sodium picosulfate, magnesium carbonate, and citric acid). The kit works by inducing osmotic diarrhea to clear the bowel of fecal matter, ensuring adequate visualization of the colonic mucosa during colonoscopy. Prepkit-C is marketed by Fresenius Kabi and is available over the counter without a prescription.
