Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PreS HBsAg refers to the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) that includes the preS domain (preS1 and preS2 regions). The hepatitis B virus (HBV) envelope contains three related proteins—large (L), middle (M), and small (S)—all of which are components of HBsAg. The L protein consists of the S region plus the immunogenic preS1 and preS2 domains. The inclusion of these domains is critical for viral entry into hepatocytes and for immune recognition. PreS-containing forms of HBsAg have been used in research, diagnostics, vaccine development, and as potential therapeutic targets or delivery systems due to their strong immunogenicity. Vaccines or diagnostic tools based on PreS domains can induce robust T- and B-cell responses against HBV[4].
