presatovir

Presatovir is an orally available small molecule antiviral drug developed for the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. It acts as a fusion inhibitor by specifically binding to the RSV fusion (F) protein on the viral surface, thereby inhibiting F protein-mediated fusion with host cell membranes and preventing viral entry. This mechanism blocks RSV replication, reduces viral load, and decreases disease severity. Presatovir has demonstrated potent antiviral activity against both A and B subgroups of RSV *in vitro* and has shown dose-dependent efficacy in animal models. In clinical studies, it reduced nasal viral load and symptoms in healthy adults experimentally infected with RSV but did not significantly improve outcomes in certain high-risk populations such as hematopoietic-cell transplant recipients or lung transplant patients.
