Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PresVu is a proprietary ophthalmic solution of pilocarpine hydrochloride (1.25%) developed by Entod Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of presbyopia in adults. It utilizes Dynamic Buffer Technology to adapt to the physiological pH of the tear film, enhancing comfort and ensuring consistent efficacy. Pilocarpine acts as a cholinergic muscarinic receptor agonist, stimulating the muscarinic receptors on the iris sphincter muscle to cause pupil constriction (miosis) and on the ciliary muscle to facilitate accommodation, thereby temporarily improving near and intermediate vision. Although its manufacturing and marketing license in India was temporarily suspended by the CDSCO in September 2024 due to unauthorized promotional claims, the suspension was revoked in April 2025, allowing for its commercial launch.
