Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Prevacent PRRS is a modified-live virus (MLV) vaccine developed by Elanco for the immunization of healthy swine against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV). It specifically contains a live attenuated Lineage 1, Type 2 PRRSV strain (GenBank accession KU131568). The vaccine is indicated for pigs 2 weeks of age or older to prevent the respiratory form of the disease and for sows/gilts 6 weeks prior to breeding to prevent reproductive failure. It is the first Lineage 1 PRRS vaccine on the market, offering protection against contemporary field strains like NADC20 and NC174. The product is administered as a 1 mL intramuscular injection and provides a duration of immunity of up to 26 weeks.
