Overview
PreviDent 5000+ + Act Fluoride Rinse is a combination dental regimen consisting of a prescription-strength sodium fluoride toothpaste (5,000 ppm fluoride) and an over-the-counter sodium fluoride mouthwash (226 ppm fluoride). This regimen is used to enhance fluoride bioavailability in the oral cavity for the prevention of dental caries. Sodium fluoride acts topically by incorporating into the tooth enamel, forming fluorapatite, which is more resistant to acid-induced demineralization and promotes remineralization of early carious lesions. The combination was evaluated in an early Phase 1 clinical study by the University of Michigan to assess salivary fluoride levels compared to standard over-the-counter products.
