Prevnar (Pfizer)

Prevnar (Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine) is a multi-valent vaccine developed by Pfizer for the prevention of invasive diseases caused by *Streptococcus pneumoniae*. In the context of clinical research at the University of Pennsylvania, Prevnar is utilized as a component of an experimental combination immunotherapy regimen for patients with advanced multiple myeloma. In a Phase II study (NCT01355393), Prevnar is administered alongside a MAGE-A3 vaccine and Hiltonol (Poly-ICLC) to patients undergoing autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT). The vaccine serves to prime autologous T cells, which are subsequently collected, expanded ex vivo, and re-infused into the patient post-transplant. This strategy aims to leverage the vaccine's ability to induce a robust T-cell dependent immune response to enhance the efficacy of the autologous T-cell transfer and evaluate immune reconstitution in the post-transplant setting.
