Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Prevora is a topically applied, high-strength chlorhexidine diacetate varnish used in dental care to help prevent dental caries (tooth decay) in adults at high risk. Unlike standard low-dose chlorhexidine mouth rinses, Prevora delivers a concentrated dose of the antimicrobial agent directly to the teeth, where it inhibits the growth of cariogenic and periodontopathogenic bacteria on tooth surfaces. The product is primarily indicated for patients with elevated risk of cavities or root caries, such as those with dry mouth, exposed root surfaces, or other predisposing conditions. It is not intended for systemic use and does not act through hormonal or systemic mechanisms.
