Overview

Prexablu is a sublingual formulation of methylene blue (methylthioninium chloride) being investigated in combination with photodynamic therapy (PDT) as a treatment for outpatients with COVID-19. It leverages methylene blue’s redox-active, photosensitizing properties, where activation with 670 nm low-level light is intended to generate reactive oxygen species that inactivate SARS-CoV-2 and modulate inflammatory pathways, while systemic exposure may contribute additional antiviral and immunomodulatory effects.[4][7][16][18]
