Prichek-M

Prichek-M is an oral anti-diabetic combination medication developed and marketed by Indoco Remedies. It contains two active pharmaceutical ingredients: glimepiride, a second-generation sulfonylurea, and metformin, a biguanide. Glimepiride acts by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells through the closure of ATP-sensitive potassium channels and may also improve peripheral insulin sensitivity. Metformin works primarily by decreasing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. This combination is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when glycemic control is not achieved with diet, exercise, and single-agent therapy.
