Overview

Prifemilast (also known as HY1999 or HPP737) is a selective, once-daily oral small-molecule inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 4B (PDE4B) being developed by cAMPfield Therapeutics. Unlike non-selective PDE4 inhibitors, prifemilast is designed to minimize gastrointestinal side effects like nausea and vomiting by specifically targeting the PDE4B isoform. The drug is currently in Phase 2b development for moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis and Phase 2 for moderate-to-severe Crohn's disease. Its partner, Newsoara Biopharma, has completed a Phase 3 trial for plaque psoriasis.
