Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PriMatrix is a biologic wound dressing derived from fetal bovine dermis, designed as a dermal repair scaffold for the management of challenging wounds. It is supplied sterile in sheet form and can be trimmed to fit individual patient needs. The primary mechanism involves providing a collagen-rich extracellular matrix that supports cellular infiltration and vascularization, facilitating the formation of new tissue over exposed structures such as tendon and bone. This enables wound closure either by re-epithelialization or by subsequent skin grafting. PriMatrix is indicated for partial and full thickness wounds, including pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, venous ulcers, second-degree burns, surgical wounds, trauma injuries with exposed bone or tendon, and other chronic or acute wounds[1][2][3][4][6]. Clinical studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in accelerating healing times compared to some alternative products[2].
