Overview

PRIME-THT (Precision Regional Immunotherapy for Melanoma Enhanced by THT) is a planned clinical study and development program by Sona Nanotech evaluating its Targeted Hyperthermia Therapy (THT) in combination with intratumoral immunotherapy for patients with newly diagnosed, early-stage, pre-surgical melanoma. THT utilizes proprietary, biocompatible, cetyltrimethylammonium (CTAB)-free gold nanorods that are injected intratumorally and activated by near-infrared (NIR) light. The activated nanorods convert light energy into localized therapeutic heat (42–48°C), which induces apoptotic cancer cell death, releases tumor neo-antigens, and stimulates local and systemic immune responses prior to surgical resection.
