Overview

PRMT1v2 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to specifically target and deplete the PRMT1v2 isoform, an alternatively spliced, predominantly cytoplasmic variant of protein arginine methyltransferase 1 (PRMT1). PRMT1v2 is overexpressed in breast cancer cell lines and tumors, where it promotes cell survival, growth, and invasiveness. Depletion of PRMT1v2 using this siRNA induces apoptosis and significantly reduces the invasive capacity of aggressive breast cancer cells, such as MDA-MB-231, by restoring levels of the cell-cell adhesion protein β-catenin. It is primarily utilized as a research tool to study isoform-specific functions of PRMT1 in oncology.
