Overview

PRMT5 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of Protein Arginine Methyltransferase 5 (PRMT5). PRMT5 is a type II arginine methyltransferase that plays a critical role in oncogenic and inflammatory signaling, primarily through the PI3K-Akt pathway. In the context of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), PRMT5 is often upregulated, particularly in cells exposed to cigarette smoke and those that have developed resistance to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) like osimertinib. By knocking down PRMT5, this siRNA aims to suppress the surge of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-8, TNF-α, and IL-1β, thereby potentially restoring sensitivity to EGFR-TKIs and inhibiting tumor progression.
