Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PRO-1562 is an orally administered, first-in-class small molecule platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFRα) inhibitor originally developed by Frequency Therapeutics and subsequently acquired and advanced by Progentos Therapeutics. It is designed to promote the differentiation of oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) into mature, myelin-producing oligodendrocytes, thereby stimulating endogenous remyelination of demyelinated axons in the central nervous system. PRO-1562 is being evaluated in a Phase 1/2a clinical trial for the treatment of relapsing multiple sclerosis (RMS) and chronic optic neuropathy, aiming to restore neurological function and prevent axonal degeneration.
