Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PRO-AH-001 is an investigational, gut-specific IgY-based antibody therapeutic developed by Prodigy Biotech for the treatment of alcohol-associated hepatitis (AH). It consists of a tailored polyclonal antibody cocktail derived from avian (chicken) immunoglobulin-Y designed to neutralize both *Enterococcus faecalis* bacteria and its associated cytolysin toxin. Cytolysin is a pore-forming toxin produced by specific strains of *E. faecalis* that has been identified as a key driver of liver inflammation and hepatocyte death in patients with AH. By targeting these factors within the gastrointestinal tract, PRO-AH-001 aims to reduce toxin-mediated liver injury while preserving the beneficial gut microbiome. This non-systemic approach is intended to avoid the systemic side effects or immune suppression often associated with traditional AH treatments. The drug is currently in the IND-enabling stage.
