Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pro-B3 is a multi-strain probiotic formulation designed to restore and maintain the balance of intestinal microbiota. It contains a specific blend of lyophilized bacteria, including *Lactobacillus helveticus* R52, *Bifidobacterium infantis* R33, and *Bifidobacterium bifidum* R71, which are proprietary strains developed by Lallemand Health Solutions. The mechanism of action involves the competitive inhibition of enteric pathogens, the production of organic acids (such as lactic acid) to lower luminal pH, and the enhancement of the intestinal epithelial barrier function. Additionally, Pro-B3 interacts with the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) to modulate local and systemic immune responses. It is primarily indicated for the management of acute infectious diarrhea, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
