Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Probio-Tec ABCG-Stick-25 is a multi-strain probiotic dietary supplement developed by Chr. Hansen (now part of Novonesis). The formulation is characterized by the 'ABCG' acronym, which represents four specific, well-documented probiotic strains: *Lactobacillus acidophilus* (LA-5), *Bifidobacterium animalis* subsp. *lactis* (BB-12), *Lactobacillus casei* (L. casei 431), and *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* (LGG). These strains are delivered in a 'stick pack' (sachet) format with a potency of 25 billion colony-forming units (CFU). The product is designed to support gastrointestinal health and immune function through several mechanisms, including the competitive exclusion of pathogenic bacteria, the production of organic acids (such as lactic acid) that lower intestinal pH, and the modulation of the host's immune system via interactions with gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT). It is commonly used to maintain a balanced gut microbiota and may be utilized in the management of conditions such as antibiotic-associated diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome.
