Overview

Probionic's paraprobiotic is a heat-treated, non-viable bacterial preparation derived from the *Lactobacillus sakei* Probio65 strain. As a paraprobiotic (also referred to as a "ghost probiotic" or "tyndallized probiotic"), it consists of inactivated microbial cells that retain biological activity through their structural components, such as cell wall fragments and metabolites. Developed by the South Korean company Probionic, this preparation is primarily targeted at modulating immune responses and maintaining skin and gut health. It is utilized in commercial products like Lactopy and Boyan-I, with research focusing on its efficacy in treating atopic dermatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and metabolic disorders. The heat-treatment process ensures stability and safety, particularly for individuals with compromised intestinal barriers, while still providing the immunomodulatory benefits associated with the parent strain.
