Overview

The Probiotic Blend (University of Nicosia) is an oral microbial therapy being investigated for its potential to treat mild Alzheimer's disease. The formulation contains 20 million CFU of five specific bacterial strains: *Lactobacillus paracasei*, *Lactobacillus plantarum*, *Lactobacillus rhamnosus*, *Lactobacillus helveticus*, and *Bifidobacterium breve*. The therapeutic approach is centered on the gut-brain axis, hypothesizing that re-establishing a healthy gut microbiome can reduce systemic and neuroinflammation, thereby halting or improving cognitive symptoms in patients aged 65 and older. The University of Nicosia is conducting clinical research to evaluate the blend's effect on cognitive function and neurophysiological markers.
