Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Probiotic Cocktail A is a synbiotic formulation developed by researchers at Chulalongkorn University. It consists of 10^9 CFU of *Bifidobacterium longum* TCU1 and *Ligilactobacillus salivarius* TCUA (formerly *Lactobacillus salivarius* TCUA), combined with the prebiotics inulin and chitosan oligosaccharide (COS). The cocktail is designed to promote gut barrier integrity by increasing the expression of the tight junction protein zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) and exerting anti-inflammatory effects. In preclinical models of chronic kidney disease (CKD), Probiotic Cocktail A has demonstrated therapeutic potential in reducing paracellular intestinal phosphate absorption, thereby ameliorating hyperphosphatemia and secondary hyperparathyroidism without altering serum calcium levels.
