Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Probiotic prawn oral immunotherapy (ProPIT) is an investigational allergen-specific immunotherapy developed by the Murdoch Children's Research Institute for the treatment of IgE-mediated prawn allergy. The therapy utilizes the Probiotic and Food Oral Immunotherapy (PPOIT) platform, which combines the administration of prawn allergen proteins (primarily tropomyosin) with a probiotic (typically *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* CGMCC 1.3724) to modulate the immune system. The goal is to induce clinical desensitization or sustained unresponsiveness by shifting the immune response from a Th2-mediated allergic profile to a more tolerant state. It is currently being evaluated in the Phase 2b PIPA trial.
