Overview

Probiotic spray is a microbial therapy formulation containing probiotics and lactic acid, currently under investigation for the treatment and prevention of oropharyngeal gonorrhoea. Developed by the Xi'an Jiaotong University Health Science Center, the spray is designed to restore the oropharyngeal microbiome and inhibit the colonization and growth of *Neisseria gonorrhoeae*. The inclusion of lactic acid helps maintain an acidic environment that is detrimental to the pathogen. It is being evaluated in a Phase 0 randomized controlled trial specifically targeting men who have sex with men (MSM).
