Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PROC-001 is an investigational cardiac progenitor cell therapy being developed for the treatment of heart failure. The therapy is designed as a cell replacement modality, utilizing stem cell technology to regenerate damaged heart muscle and restore cardiac function. Developed through a collaboration between AstraZeneca and Procella AB (a subsidiary of CellThera), the program focuses on creating highly purified cardiac progenitor cells that can differentiate into functional cardiomyocytes upon administration. As of current reports, the asset is in the preclinical development stage, with the partners working to optimize manufacturing processes and quality control standards to support future first-in-human clinical trials.
